Inpatient Rehab
- Brand new 28 bed unit: 22 Rehab patient beds and 6 Acute Stroke patient
beds.
- Independent Living Suite (ILS) within the unit
- Spacious gym housing many new modalities.
- Highly qualified Rehab staff:
- Physiatrist - Dr. Debbie Timpson
- Nurses trained in Rehab
- PT, OT and assistants
- Speech-Language Pathologist
- All patients are still seen by their family physician and in addition by the
physiatrist who directs their rehabilitation care.
Outpatient Rehab
- 22,000 Visits annually
- Outpatient Physiotherapy
- Cardiac Rehab: modeled after the Ottawa Heart Institute cardiac
rehabilitation program. It is a 6-month program with exercise sessions twice
a week and extensive health education. The exercise is directed by Dr. Li
and supervised by a registered nurse and physiotherapist with extensive
training in cardiac rehabilitation
- Pulmonary Rehab: 12-week program supervised by a Respiratory Therapist,
with exercise and testing done before entry and exit from program. A
multidisciplinary team provides the health education for patients
District Stroke Centre @ Pembroke Regional Hospital
- As of September 2005 the Pembroke Regional Hospital began offering a new
Stroke Protocol for patients in Renfrew County.
- The new strategy is aimed at identifying and assessing ischemic stroke
patients in a timely manner to determine eligibility for t-PA treatment and
if eligible, provide the treatment.
