Ambulatory Clinics

The Ambulatory Clinic includes not only clinical support for procedures and treatments but also assessment and teaching programs: Pre-operative Assessment Clinic (POAC); Diabetic Clinics for both adults and children. The POAC provides services Monday to Friday to ensure patients; readiness for surgery. Diabetic Clinics are a valuable service to assist diabetics in the area to manage their medical condition effectively, to prevent complications and to promote wellness.

The Paediatrician sees children for a variety of services such as Chest Clinic, Allergy Clinic and Ambulatory Clinic. The wide variety of visiting specialists from Ottawa continues to grow and offer services to Renfrew County residents without travelling long distance to Ottawa. Some of the specialties offered through clinics are: Orthopaedic (1,100 visits/year); Dermatology (400 visits/year); ENT (200 visits/year); Neurology (270 visits/year); Ophthalmology (1,440 visits/year); Physical Medicine (150 visits/year)); Respirology (150 visits/year); Cardiology (250 visits/year); Rheumatology (600 visits/year). The Cancer Clinic offers a monthly clinic to residents for follow up.

Another exciting service in Ambulatory Clinics is the Outpatient Telehealth services offered in collaboration with the Ottawa Heart Institute. Outpatient Telehealth provides direct cardiac assessment to cardiac patients, consultations and dialogue with a cardiologist. Using the new technology, patients can be assessed without travelling to Ottawa and treatment can be promptly altered or initiated and testing can also be carried out without delay.

The new year will see many new programs and services added, e.g., pain clinic; cardiac rehabilitation; holter monitor; B/P machine monitor and pacemaker clinics. With more and more focus towards ambulatory care, all staff are working hard to meet demands and changes.
