Laboratory
Overview: The Laboratory offers a comprehensive service to inpatients and outpatients. Testing is also provided to community patients through an association with MDS Laboratories. The department also provides testing services to other hospitals in Renfrew County as well as to Canadian Forces Base Petawawa. With a staff of 37, testing is offered in Hematology, Biochemistry, Transfusion Medicine, Microbiology, Immunology, Histology, Cytology and Electrocardiography.
Hours of Operation: The Laboratory operates 24 hours each day. Office-referral patients for routine testing are encouraged to attend the MDS office at the VON Complex on Cecelia Street for specimen collection. Outpatients who, through prior arrangement, must attend the hospital laboratory, should do so between 08:00 hours and 16:00 hours Monday to Friday.
